I am a 44 year old male. I use to pump weight, but now i can't move easily, can't touch my toes or sit without my back and legs getting tight making it hard to stand up. Somebody said pilates could benefit me. I went to your site and is Sola Pilates the same as the pilates method?

Somebody said pilates could benefit me. I went to your site and is Sola Pilates the same as the pilates method? Lou Hello Lou Yes the Pilates method will correct your back and leg problems. It was created as a form of rehabilitation and initially used for soldiers back in world war I. Then it was called Contrology and eventually atheletes and dancers embraced it because they could workout even with an injury and warm up before a big event knowing that they would stay flexible. Pilates helps strengthen the body evenly and done regularly helps you recover spinal flexibility - so you'll be able to touch your toes again, not to mention sit down and get up from a chair easily and without pain. Now of course this requires you to do your homework daily. I encourage clients and students to do 5 to 10 minutes a day. There are 5 basic exercises in Pilates that usually are enough to help you loosen your back and legs and help you move comfortably. Here at Sola Pilates we teach the authentic method and it is part of my mission to encourage as many people as possible to do these exercises to prevent back and leg injuries and to help people discover the joy of fitness, which doesn't have to be a labor. Ok thanks,
so If I understand you the Authentic method of Pilates IS? the Pilates method? Sorry I just want to be clear because there are lots of people teaching Pilates and someone told me I could get hurt if the instructor wasn't "certified" whatever that means. I hope those aren't stupid questions Lou |

I hope those aren't stupid questions Lou Hi Lou Yes the Authentic method is the Pilates Method and where and how an instructor is certified is VERY IMPORTANT! There have been many articles written recently exactly about the importance of teachers with proper credentials. Unfortunately there are many brief programs out there that certify people in 3 days (a terrible thing) and then these folk make false claims about their abilities. The rule is...So it is up to you to ask and the teacher should be happy to provide you with all the information you need, those who are credentialed never hesitate to provide them.
